Ingredients Required:
500g red onions 1 tablespoon (20g) butter 1 tablespoon olive oil 3 tablespoons brown sugar 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar Directions to Cook: Peel and cut onions in half lengthwise. Cut into thin (3mm) slices. Melt butter and olive oil over low-medium heat in heavy based frypan. Sauté onions for 10-15 minutes, stirring frequently to prevent sticking or burning. Add balsamic vinegar and stir while sizzling. Add brown sugar and stir through until dissolved. Reduce heat and cook, stirring, for an extra 10 minutes until onions are rich brown in colour. Remove pan from heat and allow onions to cool in pan (onions will thicken slightly on standing).

Michelle's KitchenLife for us has been all about survival on a shoestring budget. I've learnt how to live on very basic (and cheap) staples and I cook from scratch and don't buy prepackaged mixes of anything. I've raised three happy and healthy kids and I believe that food is central to good communication and a happy and connected life!
